We love a maiden call here at the Shipping News.
And the Crown Princess cruise ship that will glide between the South and North Moles and into Fremantle’s inner harbour at 4 am tomorrow, Wednesday morning, having just visited Busselton, will be doing just that – making her very first visit to Freo.
However, the Crown Princess’ arrival and reception in Fremantle will be decidedly low-key compared with her arrival and reception in Sydney a few days ago.
In Sydney, she made a spectacular entrance into Sydney Harbour kicking off her debut season Down Under. She was flanked by a group of ‘Love Boat’ themed water-skiers, a fly-board rider soaring high in the air on a waterspout, and a guy on an e-foil.
She is being called the newest Love Boat and will sail year round from Australia, with Sydney as her homeport.
In the next 12 months, Princess Cruises estimates that Crown Princess will contribute more than AUD$120 million to the Australian economy as she makes 78 visits to 21 ports around the country — a record for a Princess ship.
Crown Princess will arrive on Wednesday with 2956 passengers on board; 776 will disembark and 765 embark throughout today.
She sails with a crew of 1143.
The ship will return to Fremantle in 2025, on 3 May and 11 June.
During 2025, she will also host the 2025, 106-night Princess World Cruise visiting 49 destinations across 28 countries and six continents.
Her logo is one of the most recognised brand logos in cruising; the design symbolises the smooth and flowing gracefulness of ocean waves, though apparently some think it’s a sea witch!
If you missed this magnificent ship’s arrival this morning, you can catch her departure at 5pm. Next port of call Broome.
We will bring you pics of the Crown Princess’ departure from Freo tomorrow evening.
