FREO TODAY

Freo Today. 15 January 2025. Port as busy as. Lots of RO-ROs. Here’s the Malaysia Grace just in from Ulsan, Korea, where Hyundai makes lots of cars and other vehicles. Bet you anything there’s a Hyundai or three among those in this pic! Maybe the one you’ve ordered, as well? After she leaves today, Malaysia Grace’s next port of call is Darwin.

Up There Walyalup Walking Tour

An auditory experience and love letter to Fremantle. Where else in Perth can you expect to be serenaded and cajoled by a harmonica player racing past you on a skateboard? We listened to recorded oral interviews of Fremantle makers and locals through bluetooth headsets as we passed by the tenancies they used to occupy, starting at Walyalup Koort and meandering in a curve through High Street Mall along to where Cibo Café used to be, then on to the long neglected Woolstores building on Cantonment Street. Many have been sitting empty for years. Others more recently extinguished of the creative…

AIDAsol – Here this morning, gone tonight!

The AIDAsol is no stranger to Fremantle. She was here at pretty much the same time last year. And she returned this morning around 6 am once again flashing her big smile. AIDAsol is an attractive, quite large cruise ship. Mind you, on the popular ship tracking app Marine Traffic she’s now described as an ‘Accommodation vessel’. She also has a number of sister ships, being the AIDAdiva, AIDAbella, AIDAluna, AIDAblu, AIDAmar and AIDAstella. AIDAsol was delivered in March 2010, and christened on 9 April 2011. Here’s some of her vital statistics on this visit to Freo - Number of…
