Special Stuart & Sub Visit Freo

Freo Today. 27 May 2026. Over the past couple days we’ve had some special visitors in Fremantle’s Inner Harbour – the Anzac class frigate HMAS Stuart and a sibling HMAS sub. They’ve caused quite a stir! Not sure of the sibling sub’s name. Let’s just call her Col, short for Collins Class. Nice pic sent in by super port sleuth John Hartley. The Stuart and her earlier namesakes have a special relationship with Fremantle. The City holds a plaque from this Stuart as well as her two predecessors. A special link. Navy advises us that ‘Royal Australian Navy vessels HMAS Stuart and a Collins class submarine are in Fremantle to support the Indian Ocean Defence and Security (IODS) Conference and Navy Life Expo.’
