Kronos – the inspiration for Succession!

FREO TODAY

Freo Today. 14 October 2022. ALS Kronos departed Freo for Malaysia yesterday. Deanna Shanahan of the famous Instagram duo @flotsamandjetsam6162 caught her in the act. The tug, you’ll notice, seems to be keeping its distance. Why would it do that? Well, for good reason. Consider this: Kronos, in Greek mythology, was the son of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaea (Earth), being the youngest of the 12 Titans. On the advice of his mother he castrated his father, thus separating Heaven from Earth. He became the king of the Titans, and took for his consort his sister Rhea; she bore by him Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon, all of whom he swallowed because his own parents had warned that he would be overthrown by his own child. When Zeus was born, however, Rhea hid him in Crete and tricked Kronus into swallowing a stone instead. Zeus grew up (good guy, Zeus), forced Kronus to disgorge his brothers and sisters, waged war on Kronus, and was victorious. After his defeat by Zeus, Kronus became, according to different versions of the story, either a prisoner in Tartarus or king in Elysium. According to one tradition, the period of Kronus’s rule was a golden age for mortals. Really? Ask us, it sounds like the inspiration for the TV series Succession!
