Almost a secret …

Freo Today. 14 April 2026. Almost forgotten, this little mall off Adelaide, Cantonment and Point Streets, Fremantle. It’s a remnant of the much heralded 1965 Westgate Shopping Centre and Mall, the City of Fremantle’s then answer to the 1960s huge growth of large and popular suburban shopping centres, like Garden City, but now pretty much no more. The mall is still referred to by the cognoscenti as ‘Westgate Mall’. Perhaps it will have a rebirth when the nearby proposed apartment developments in Point and Cantonment Streets are completed? Already it has the Little Lane apartments that front Adelaide Street towering over it.
