130 years strong!
Freo Today. 22 May 2026. As part of the redevelopment of William Dalgety Moore’s old Woodside Mansion and the old Woodside Maternity Hospital in Dalgety Street, East Fremantle, as an aged care facility, a number of trees are being relocated on the site as part of an approved landscape plan, including two beautiful, old, probably planted by William Dalgety Moore himself around 130 year ago, olive trees. Joanne Taggart, who lives nearby, watched, mesmerised, as the relocation process took shape under the guidance of the Arbor Centre assisted by General Crane Services, including the amazingly talented crane operators and brothers, Dave and Wayne Mancini. Joanne couldn’t believe how expertly the two olive trees were relocated from the north side to the west side of the site. Here’s one of Joanne’s great pics of one of the uprooted olive trees on its way to its new location. Amazing. Here’s our full report on the relocation exercise. 130 years strong!
