As we all know, there’s been a lot of progress on the Old Bridge/New Bridge site with the towers taking shape. If you look closely you’ll see they have risen up past the existing bridge deck.
The result is just now, two months out from the Old Bridge being closed for 12 months, before the new one is opened, the New Bridge structure is becoming more visible. We are told by Main Roads WA that the next few months of construction will be ‘exciting’ as the bridge makers add more edge beam segments.
Now, if it’s excitement you’re after, have a look at this 4D staging video from the Swan River Crossings website to get a good idea of what lies ahead. Impressive!
And here are a few screenshots from the video that show the difference in height between the current and new bridge.

And here’s a great image showing the first segment lift. The segments are slightly higher than the existing bridge, and the top of these segments will be the new road level.

Onwards and upwards!
