Port Strike Settled

Word just in that the ‘Industrial action’, aka strike, planned for Fremantle Port tomorrow and Monday will not go ahead, after in-principle agreement was reached between Fremantle Ports and Marine Services employees.

Vessel traffic services officers and small craft masters were due to undertake a 48-hour protected industrial action commencing 5.30am Sunday but this will now not occur.

Fremantle Ports CEO Jodie Ransom said notices to take action had been withdrawn by workers in good faith following negotiations yesterday.

“This is a positive outcome that will ensure shipping lines, importers and exporters and the public won’t be impacted further,” Ms Ransom said.

“It demonstrates that respectful and collaborative negotiation can deliver outcomes that work for all.”

Good news!
