Freo Today. 5 November 2024. Lots happening everywhere today. But to help take your minds off all that, here’s the Queen. As we reported yesterday in our Cunard’s Sail of the Century set to sail into Freo, the Queen Elizabeth was due into Freo in the relatively early hours this morning. Well, after doing circles off Cottesloe she eventually came through the heads and into Freo around 6 am. We are guessing she didn’t initially like the look of the cool wind, clouds and rain that turned up to greet her. (Nor did the Shipping News’ duty photographer.) But it was all made worthwhile as the QE whisked by a couple hardy ship-spotters at Victoria quay with the guidance of the Svitzer Redhead tug under a clear sky and sidled up to berth at the famed Fremantle Passenger Terminal. She’s been here before, of course, but welcome back to Freo, Queen Elizabeth!
