It’s all happening – but there’s still 2 years to go!

Freo Today. 24 November 2024. Freo folk are now well used to all the bridge replacement works at the Old Traffic Bridge. The four large crawler cranes that have been in place a couple months now, will stay in place until the project is completied in late 2026. The cranes perform various tasks on the project – from holding the hammer used for piling, to lifting heaving materials, including the new precast bridge deck into place and assisting with removing the existing bridge. As we explained in this article towards the end of 2025, the Old Traffic Bridge will close to traffic completely while the replacement bridge is put in place. It is hoped the new bridge will be opened, ready for business, towards the end of 2026. Here’s an up to date pic of it all. As you can see, it’s all happening – but there’s still 2 years to go!
