‘Guard them wherever they may go’

Freo Today. 28 June 2025. At Fremantle’s inner harbour this morning, as we have reported, the HMAS Arafura was commissioned as the first of six Arafura class offshore patrol vessels. After she was commissioned the Crew ascended the gangplank and took charge of their ship under the command of Lieutenant Commander Marc Beecroft RAN. All in all, a moving ceremony. And as The Naval Hymn invokes, ‘guard them wherever they may go.’
